DIS produced various mounts to Madsen. This is an early and really nice example of the sales material produced.
This is a two page pamphlet/brochure from 1936 printed on glossy paper by J. D. Qvist & Company in Copenhagen.
There are several pictures of mounts but no explanation to the illustrations besides the DIS code (more pictures in the follow up blog post).
Each mount has a letter and a number, these were DIS designations of the different mounts. We are sure that there was some sort of price list or other explanation accompanying the brochure.
Here is one of the rare belt fed Madsen Anti-aircraft guns in mount N5 for use aboard ships. The sailors manning the gun further adds to the naval ambience. It has 2 gunner seats, one gunner handles the elevation and the other the direction. Both have a sight in front, but it seems that only the gunner on the right was able to fire the cannon as there is a Bowden cable visible from the foot rest (pedal) up to the trigger. Maybe the cable could be switched? It looks as if there is socket under the left seat as well.
Close up of the feeding mechanism. 20×120 Madsen cartridges are seen in the belt. After the war belts like these (the lmg version) were produced on the DIS factory by the ‘assembly ladies’ it is not known if this large belt was produced by DIS or if it was outsourced.
