Commer was a British manufacturer of commercial vehicles from 1905 until 1979. Commer vehicles included car-derived vans, light vans, medium to heavy commercial trucks, military vehicles and buses. The company also designed and built some of its own diesel engines for its heavy commercial vehicles (Wiki).
During research in the archives I stumpled upon something curious. A mentioning of the Commer. Sometime, probably in the 1950s, DIS produced parts for the Commer truck. As strange as this may sound there were several assembly plants in Denmark (read here about the Ford assembly plant). The assembly line revolution and currency and import restrictions gave advantages to assembling the cars locally.
The wehicle(parts) mentioned could be from the wehicle Commer Q4 used by the danish military??? If the parts were manufactured for the military they were probably not part of a assembly plant but part of a military contract. Fenders are specifically mentioned but other parts might have been produced?
Asking around (car enthusiasts etc), but no more information surfaced. Apparently this is a severly underresearched topic. At the moment no more information is available on this subject.
