Madsen was the world’s first true light machine gun produced in quantity. It was invented and produced in Denmark by Dansk Rekyl Riffel Syndikat A/S (Eng=The Danish Recoil Rifle Syndicate A/S). The invention traces back to the 1880s but it was not produced in large quantities until 1903.
