Let us continue with a mounting. This time a vehicle mounting for the bandfed lmg. I will continue with some of DIS own words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DIS vehicle mounting is a pivotable anti-aircraft gun mounting supported at one single point, which means in turn that the mounting requires only one single supporting point on the vehicle to carry it. The preparative work to be carried out on the vehicle therefore consists simply in establishing a stable support by installing a plate (90\u00d790 mm) at a distance of approximately 580 mm from the centre of the manhole.<\/p>\n\n\n

Design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DIS vehicle mounting is designed on the basis of the patented lever arm system, consisting of two lever arms, the lover lever arm being pivotally supported on a bearing attached to the base plate and supporting at its other end the other arm of the lever arm system. This other (upper) arm is designed as a vertically movable, spring-balanced parallelogram, which is also horizontally pivotally supported, one end of the arm being pivotally supported on the free end of the lower arm. The parallelogram has at its other end the pivotally attached gun seat, which is also furnished with a horizontal axis of rotation, permitting elevation of the gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The patented lever arm system used in the DIS vehicle mounting permits the gunner, when standing upright (i.e. without having to bend his knees), to shoot in all elevations (from -5 \u00b0 <\/strong>to +85 \u00b0<\/strong> ) and to cover the entire horizon, having, even in the case of the most unfavourable direction of approach, always a traversing angle reaching, as a minimum, 30 \u00b0<\/strong> to both sides of the direction of approach.<\/p>\n\n\n

With a view to attaining the highest possible precision, and to aiding the gunner when he is following the target, the two arms of the mounting have a mutually controlled guiding system, and the parallelogram could be locked in four positions, giving five different levels of the gun seting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said controlled guiding system, with which the DIS vehicle mounting is provided, involves that the free end of the mounting, carrying the gun seating, follows a circular course around the manhole in the vehicle, which, in turn, means that the gunner, when shooting, has a possibility of leaning forwards towards the mounting, ready to take the recoil from the weapon during the firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
